Rationale: Rodriguez-Perez et al. (2021) explain that the Beck Depression Inventory (BDI-IA) is the most widely used measurement available for the assessment of clients' depressive symptoms.

How it measures depression: Client self-report by filling out a 21-item questionnaire, with multiple choices scoring from a 0 to a 3.

Validity: In a study of 2,022 subjects, Rodriguez-Perez et al. (2021) found a Cronbach's alpha coefficient of .91.

Reliability: In their research, Rodriguez-Perez et al. (2021) found that Beck's Depression Inventory rendered

internal consistency coefficients from .76 to .95, as well as (r) test-retest coefficients from

.48 to .86.

Responsiveness, Sensitivity to Change: Rodriguez-Perez et al. (2021) found the BDI to rate at 85.5% sensitivity
